As Howth Castle is still a private residence it is not open daily for public viewing. The inside of the castle is only accessible during arranged times for guided tours. Information about guided tours can be found below.

Guided Tours

We are running a limited number of Guided Tours on the Property with our historian Daniel Eglington Carey. Join him for an hour-long walk through the historic castle and its surrounding gardens to learn about the St. Lawrence family and the architectural beauty of Howth Castle. With a presence in Howth since 1177, the St. Lawrence family were an important part of Irish life as Lords and Earls of Howth and their family seat has been built-on and expanded, through names like Bindon, Morrison and Lutyens, to reach its impressive form today. Having been a private family home until very recently, this is a unique place to visit and one of extreme importance in Irish history. Please be aware that the castle is awaiting restoration and is currently unfurnished but the stories and architectural features behind closed doors are no less interesting. These guided tour is approximately 60 minutes in length and can be booked online at the link below.

Book Historical Walking Tour

It is also possible to have a guided tour of the inside as an add-on to a Howth Castle Cookery School Corporate Hire, Private or Team Building Event. For more information on this email info@howthcastlecookeryschool.ie.

Howth Castle grounds provide a beautiful spot for a walk up the driveway, past the castle and up to Deer Park Golf and the Café Bar. You can follow signs which will direct you from the side of the Café Bar which lead all the way through to the historical site of Aideen's Grave.  This path also brings you past the magnificent Rhododendron Gardens which you will find in full bloom for most of May and June.
