Sketching the Woodlands: A Landscape and Tree Drawing Workshop at Howth Castle

In November, the woodlands of Howth Castle are at their most atmospheric. Bare branches trace shapes against the sky, the last leaves glow copper and gold, and the old trees of the estate stand out in all their character.

On Saturday 14 November, we're inviting you to spend a creative day immersed in that landscape at our Landscape and Tree Sketching Workshop with Sorca O'Farrell.

Meet Sorca O'Farrell

Sorca is a renowned landscape artist whose work is a direct and emotional response to the landscape close to her home here in Howth. Few artists know these woods, hills and coastlines as intimately. There's no better guide to help you see the estate through an artist's eyes.

A Day Among the Trees

This explorative workshop is all about looking closely and responding to what you see. With Sorca guiding you, you'll spend time in the estate's woodlands, sketching trees and landscape and exploring different ways to capture shape, light and atmosphere on paper.

The day is based in our newly renovated workshop rooms at Howth Castle, a calm, creative space just steps from the woodland. With places limited to 12, you'll get plenty of personal guidance from Sorca throughout the day.
